With a particular interest in diabetes prevention, the Human Nutrition Unit is conducting a new acute study to explore whether consuming kiwifruitcan provide additional health benefits beyond its typical nutritional value, especially energy expenditure, blood sugar, and appetite control.
What does this study involve?
Attend a 1-hour Screening Visit to the University of Auckland's Human Nutrition Unit in Mount Eden
Attend a Body Composition Scan
Attend 2 Study Visits (5 hours each, 8.30am - 1.30pm)
How do I know if I am eligible? You may be eligible if you fulfil the following criteria:
Between 18 - 60 years old
BMI between 24 - 40 kg/m2
Have elevated fasting blood sugar, but not diabetes (we can test this for you at no cost)
Able to attend 1 Screening Visit (1 hour), 1 Body Composition Scan (30 minutes), and 2 Study Visits (5 hours each)
European Caucasian or Chinese
Willing to have blood taken as part of a clinical study
Not vegetarian or vegan (contains dairy and beef products)
